Police are continuing to investigate a fatal train accident Monday night in Albemarle County.
Around 9 p.m. police received a call that a female pedestrian had been hit and killed by a train near the Luck Stone Quarry on Richmond Road. The Buckingham Branch Railroad train's crew reported the accident.
Police say the location is several miles off the highway and it took some time for rescuers to get to the scene.
Kimberly Welch, 18, has been identified as the victim. Welch does not have a fixed address in Albemarle County.
Welch's body has been taken to Richmond for the medical examiner's review.
