Virginia's Justin Anderson Named ACC Rookie of the Week
UVa freshman guard Justin Anderson has been named the ACC Rookie of the Week. He averaged 16 points and five rebounds in Virginia's last two games against Clemson and Maryland.
Anderson had a career high 17 points in Sunday's win over Maryland. He also tied a career high with 9 rebounds. Against Clemson, Anderson had 14 points, three steals, two assits and one blocked shot.
Anderson has scored in double figures in five of the last six games averaging 12 points and three rebounds. Virginia has won six of its last seven games and coach Tony Bennett says Anderson has been playing a key role.
Bennett says, "He's becoming a bit more consistent and he brings that physicality and his ability to rebound and get to the lane and he has a nice pull-up (jumper) it adds a nice dimension... I just like it, the more consistent he is, the more sound he is that helps our team and he gives you those athletic plays those physical plays that make a difference."
Virginia now has a record of 7-3 in the ACC, 17-6 overall. The 'Hoos host Virginia Tech Tuesday at 7pm.
