Whipping winds in central Virginia may be to blame for a power outage that had lights flickering in Albemarle County Saturday morning.
Dominion Virginia Power reported more than 2,200 outages throughout Albemarle County Saturday morning - most of them around Crozet.
The loss of electricity caused an inconvenience for businesses in western Albemarle. Some say they had never seen this type of blackout.
"It started about 4:30 and the lights were just flickering on and off and it was unlike any other power outage," said Steve Brown, a Crozet resident. "It wasn't constant - it was just on and off, on and off."
People in the area said power was not fully restored until 10 a.m.
Dominion has yet to comment on what caused the outages.
