A new transitional housing program could be headed to Fluvanna County. A group of women from Fluvanna's Effort Baptist Church is launching Psalm 91 House, an initiative to help women and children find transitional housing.
Effort Baptist Church hopes to partner with existing resources, like the Shelter for Help in Emergency, People and Congregations Engaged in Ministry (PACEM) and the correctional center, to provide a new service in Fluvanna.
"I kept getting bumped into by needs, women in need, women knocking on your door that can't go home anymore, it's not safe. Women that are going to be getting out of prison and they've gotten used to the structure and the safety net, honestly, of prison, and now and they are going to get out and go 'I hope I make the right choices when I get out'," said Jenny Cassell Faulknier, Psalm 91 House founder.
The team from Effort Baptist is having a spa day at Classic Impressions and Lake Chiropractic February 16 to raise money for Psalm 91 House.
