A judge has certified charges against the man accused of attempting to abduct a University of Virginia student last November.
Twenty-seven-year-old Matthew Beaulieu appeared in Charlottesville General District Court Thursday afternoon.
The victim testified that a man with a hood and a mask attempted to grab her along Stadium Road near Runk Dining Hall last November, but she managed to fight him off.
Police later picked up Beaulieu and say he had handcuffs, duct tape and a butcher knife in the car with him.
Judge Robert Downer certified charges of abduction and abduction with intent to defile.
Beaulieu is being held without bond in the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail.
