Board to Decide Between 2 Options for Courts Location

Posted: Updated:

With more court space in high demand, some major changes to the Albemarle County courts system may be coming soon.

The Board of Supervisors heard the results of a $36,000 study it funded to analyze and determine the best place for the courts to be.

The board was presented with two options. One would keep the courts downtown with the use of the Levy Opera House.  The second would split the courts, leaving one downtown and moving the other to the McIntire location. Both options would cost the county between $40 million and $50 million.

The Board of Supervisors will take a closer look at both options at a future meeting.
