A faulty landing gear door sensor prompted a plane's emergency landing Wednesday afternoon at the Charlottesville Albemarle Airport (CHO).
Airport officials say a United turboprop that was headed to Dulles took off from CHO around 2:00 p.m. when the landing gear warning light came on. There was concern the landing gear door wasn't closed, and the gear would collapse when the plane landed.
The pilots decided to return to CHO, landed safely and found the landing gear door was indeed closed.
Forty people were on board at the time.
The plane is being inspected.
