Fresh Market Officially Open in Albemarle Square Shopping Center

The Fresh Market opened its doors in the Albemarle Square Shopping Center Wednesday morning, making it the store's first central Virginia location.

The store hosted a VIP breakfast for some members of the community.

Instead of a ribbon-cutting ceremony, there was a "crack the parmesan" ceremony. Throughout the day there will be chef demonstrations, samples, and customer giveaways.

"I have not ever been to a Fresh Market and I've heard all good things about it, so I thought I'd check it out," said Donna Cahen, a shopper.

County leaders say the store opening is a sign of steady growth in Albemarle County.
