The Albemarle County Board of Supervisors has decided to table any decision about a proposed firing range for police training. Originally, the county was considering building an outdoor range on about 171 acres at the Keene Landfill.
Supervisors say other options have been brought to light, and private money has come in to keep the range out of Keene. Supervisors decided to form a committee to study the other options, which include a fully enclosed range or choosing a new location, such as Scottsville.
"Postpone the meeting next week, giving us a chance to flesh out these other options and how they might work," said Duane Snow, a supervisor.
The board will now wait for the committee to bring back a recommendation for the proposed range before making any decisions.
