‘Bake ‘n Bike’ Sale to Fund Community Bikes, Books Behind Bars

Posted: Updated:

The annual Bake ‘n Bike Valentine's Day fundraiser is rolling into its ninth year.

Right now, volunteers are taking orders for a variety of Valentine's Day treats, including heart-shaped scones to deliver to you or a sweetheart, that raise money for a cause.

The proceeds will benefit Community Bikes, a volunteer-run bike shop, and Books Behind Bars, which donates books to prisons. Last year's fundraiser raised more than $2,000.

"Yeah, we definitely put the fun in fundraiser. You can't go wrong ordering something for your sweetheart, and bringing that to someone, it really brightens their day that someone was thinking about them on Valentine's Day," said volunteer coordinator Shelly Stern.

A costumed cyclist will deliver orders in the city. This year, people can place their orders online until Valentine's Day.

It's that time again! Get ready for the 9th annual Bake 'n Bike fundraiser to benefit Books Behind Bars and Community Bikes. Every year we raise well over $1000 for these organizations (last year we raised almost $2,500!), and with your help, we can raise even more this year!

Place orders now for delivery on Thursday February 14th. For a $15-20 donation, a costumed bike rider will pedal a half dozen freshly baked, heart shaped, fairly traded chocolate chip scones - complete with a homemade card - to your door (or your honey's/friend's/co-worker's door) in town. Pick up also available at the Quest Bookshop for county folks.

This year, you can place your order online: cvillecommunitybikes.org (you will see the "click here" link)

*We will take orders even on Valentine's Day!* Please tell all your friends!
