Powhatan Wins Jefferson District Wrestling Championships
Powhatan High School won the Jefferson District wrestling tournament championship Saturday at Western Albemarle High School.
The Indians finished with 214.5 points, while Louisa County (182) and Fluvanna County (176) placed 2nd and 3rd, respectively.
WAHS (103), Monticello (87), and Charlottesville (78) round out the field.
Powhatan won five individual championships Saturday, while Louisa won four.
The Indians Kalsin Parker won the 160 pound division, while Jake Tomlinson placed first at 170 pounds, Thomas Smith at 182 pounds, Noah Green at 195 pounds, and David Roush at 285 pounds.
The Lions Jeffery Sisk won the district championship at 102 pounds, while teammate Richard Gallegos took the title at 126 pounds, Jordan Spotswood won at 145, and Gavin Tingen took the 152 pound division.
Western Albemarle's Andrew Dickerson won at 113 pounds, and Gabriel Rody-Ramazani captured the 132 pound championship.
The Flucos Justin Zimmerman took the title at 120 pounds.
Monticello's Ryan Brown is the 138 pound champion, and teammate Daniel Alonzo won the 220 pound division.
