The Orange County town of Gordonsville is celebrating a big birthday.
Hundreds of people packed inside the Gordonsville Fire Hall for the town's 200th anniversary party. Several restaurants in the town pitched in for dinner and of course - cake and ice cream.
Mayor Bob Coiner says it's a day to reflect on the town's past and look forward to its future.
"It's really beyond special, my family goes back to the 1800's here," Coiner said. "Both grandfathers served, Granddad was on council for over 30 years and mayor for a long time and when the town had their centennial Granddaddy was mayor then, and so it's just a coincidence that I happen to be it for the bicentennial."
Saturday was just the beginning of the birthday celebrations in Gordonsville. Events - including festivals and fairs - will continue throughout the year.
