Virginia Tech Basketball Falls In Overtime Against UNC - NBC29 WVIR Charlottesville, VA News, Sports and Weather

The Virginia Tech men's basketball team lost a heartbreaker in overtime to North Carolina 72-60 at the Dean Smith Center Saturday afternoon.

The Hokies led for the first 28 minutes of the game and had a chance to win in the final four seconds when the game was tied 55-55.

Erick Green tried to shoot a jumper over the Tar Heels Reggie Bullock, but Bullock got a piece of the ball and the shot was no good.

After two time-outs the Tar Heels couldn't put a shot in sending the game into overtime.

In overtime - UNC outscored the Hokies 17-5 to ice their 72-60 victory over Virginia Tech.

Green led the Hokies with 16 points and shot 7-of-21 from the floor.

Virginia Tech returns to Blacksburg to host Maryland Thursday at Cassell Coliseum.

Tip off is at 9 p.m.
