Albemarle Police to Place Extra Patrols on Super Bowl Sunday

Posted: Updated:

Super Sunday and drinking seem to go hand in hand. But you may want to think twice before driving home after the big game.

Extra patrols will look for drunk drivers in Albemarle County that day. Police say Super Bowl Sunday brings out a lot of people to bars who typically don't plan to stay the night anywhere. They are urging people to make plans and avoid making the decision to drink and drive because patrols will be out in full force.

"We just want people to plan ahead of time, make sure you have a designated driver. Unlike New Year's Eve where people plan to spend the night, a lot of us have to get up and go to work the very next day so make sure you plan to get home," said Sergeant Sean Hackney.

Police will start bringing out those patrols Saturday night.
