A Charlottesville art gallery is celebrating 40 years in business.
Second Street Gallery is looking forward to a year of celebrations. They will kick things off with the opening of a new exhibition by Charlottesville native Clay Witt.
Because the gallery was founded by working artists, Witt will spend the next month there creating new works of art.
"Forty is an interesting anniversary or an important anniversary because not many organizations like this get to 40 - not many get to 30 - so we're one of the longest surviving nonprofit contemporary art organizations in the country," said Steve Taylor, the gallery's director.
The opening reception kicks off at 6 p.m. Friday. It will be followed by an artist talk at 6:30 p.m.
