WAYNESBORO, VA (AP) - Virginia's Shenandoah National Park has a new superintendent.
Jim Northrup succeeds Martha Bogle, who retired last month after 33 years with the National Park Service.
Northrup also has spent more than three decades with the Park Service. He comes to Shenandoah after serving as superintendent of Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore off Lake Superior in Michigan's Upper Peninsula since 2005.
The News Virginian reports Northrup also will oversee Virginia's Cedar Creek and Belle Grove National Historical Park.
Among Northrup's other previous positions, he served as chief ranger at the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
