UVA, Tom Tom Festival to Unveil Innovation Lab Expansion
The University of Virginia is teaming up with an area festival to unveil an improved innovation lab.
The Darden School of Business is working with the Tom Tom Founders Festival to convene a community $10,000 pitch night as part of a celebration of the expansion of the Innovation Laboratory, or i.Lab. According to the festival's official website, the pitch night asks artists, entrepreneurs, innovators, amateurs, professionals and anyone else what they would do for Charlottesville with $10,000.
According to the Darden School's official website, the school "began expansion of its existing Innovation Laboratory in the summer of 2012 to include a new cutting-edge Darden Business Incubator facility." The new facility will formally open on April 11, during the festival.
"[The festival is] also about new ideas. There's talks and panels and workshops and just how people can explore new ideas about the future," said Paul Beyer of the Tom Tom Founders Festival.
The Tom Tom Founders Festival drew more than 6,700 people for innovation talks, celebratory gatherings and concerts in 2012. To view the 2013 festival schedule click here.
