The Waynesboro Police Department is investigating a Home Invasion and Shooting that occurred in the city on December 3, 2012.
Officers were dispatched to an Apartment in the 300 block of N. Delphine Ave. at approximately 11:30 p.m. where they found the 51-year-old female resident had been shot twice, once in each arm, while trying to keep an unknown intruder out of her bathroom.
The victim reported that while she was in the bathroom she heard the sound of her front door being kicked in and opened the bathroom door to investigate. She then said a large muscular male with his face covered who was wearing a gray sweatshirt confronted her so she shut the door and struggled to keep it shut as he attempted to gain entry. It was during this struggle that the suspect discharged the handgun through the door striking the victim twice. The perpetrator subsequently fled the scene in an unknown direction.
The victim was taken to Augusta Health via Rescue Squad and later transferred to UVA Medical Center with non life threatening injuries.
