Harmon-Wright Defense Asks for Mistrial

Posted: Updated:

There's a big snag in the case of a former Culpeper town police officer convicted of voluntary manslaughter.

Daniel Harmon-Wright was convicted after the fatal shooting of an unarmed woman in her car.

Sentencing has been postponed and the defense has now asked for a mistrial.

Wednesday morning the judge was told a dictionary had been found in the jury room with the page marked to murder. Tuesday, jurors had asked for clarification on some of the charges and the judge instructed them to rely on the predetermined jury instructions.

Each juror was questioned and the judge will decide what to do Friday.
