Climate Change-Conscious Group Forms in Charlottesville
A new group in Charlottesville is doing its part to help educate people about climate change.
350 Central Virginia held its first meeting Tuesday night. The group is concerned about climate change and how it could affect people in this area.
Organizers say, in order to preserve the planet's climate, people need to be educated about the amount of carbon in the air. They say climate change is happening here in central Virginia.
"Whether its extreme weather events that we've been experiencing, droughts, floods, hurricanes, super storms, or just everyday problems in terms of forest fires and things like that, this is a serious issue for everyone around the world and we think we need to act here, especially in the United States," said Jason Halbert, a member of the group.
The group will soon start hosting monthly meetings.
