Virginia's first game this season against a ranked opponent is a win.

UVA got a game high 22 points from Joe Harris in beating #19 NC State 58-55 Tuesday night.

Virginia's Akil Mitchell added 14 points and freshman Mike Tobey had 13 points and a career high seven rebounds.

Virginia has now won four straight games including three in the last six days, and it was an excited Wahoo locker room after the game.

Mitchell said, "Its huge, Coach Bennett was there. We had some Alumni guys back, Will Sherrill's back. Everybody was jumping around. We're all happy. I don't know if we're all happy because we get a day off tomorrow or just happy because we beat NC State but to pull of 3 games in 6 days is big for us."

Senior point guard Jontel Evans added, "Man it was crazy. Guys jumping up and down, hugging each other just telling each other good job because tonight was just a great team effort a great team win."

The Cavaliers move into sole possession of second place in the ACC with a 5-2 record.

Miami is in first place at 6-0.

"This is definitely a big win for us because we had a couple of tough losses earlier in the year," said freshman forward Mike Tobey. He added, "If we keep getting these big wins hopefully we can make it to the tournament this year."

Virginia continues conference play as they travel to Georgia Tech Sunday, February 3.
