Dozens of University of Virginia students are volunteering their services to take the headache out of filing taxes.
Starting Monday, university employees and people living in the Charlottesville area can receive free help preparing their taxes. Last year, the volunteers prepared and electronically filed more than 1,400 returns and more than $500,000 in refunds.
Around 40 people have already signed up for Monday night.
"The turnout's been great. Last year we had over 600 clients and the year before nearly 500, so we grow every year and hopefully this year we'll grow even more," said Patrick Bernhardt, a student participant in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program.
The program is made possible through the help of the UVA's Human Resources Department.
