Augusta Man Pleads Guilty to Molestation

An Augusta County man has admitted molesting a young girl nearly two decades ago.

Eugene Monroe, 72, pleaded guilty Monday afternoon to a felony charge of aggravated sexual battery. Prosecutors say Monroe sexually abused a girl on numerous occasions during the 1990s, beginning when the victim was just 4 years old.

Monroe will be sentenced in April, and faces a maximum penalty of 20 years behind bars.
