Fire crews responded to an apartment fire on Commonwealth Drive in Albemarle County Monday afternoon.
Albemarle County Fire and Rescue crews arrived to find smoke coming from a front window after they say a small kitchen fire broke out in a third-floor apartment at 2255 Commonwealth Drive.
The call came in around 4:15 Monday afternoon. By 5 p.m., the fire had been put out, and there were no reports of injuries.
According to Albemarle County Fire Rescue, the fire began due to a "part failure" that occurred while someone was cooking.
The fire caused approximately $18,000 in damages.
