Virginia Tech cornerback Antone Exum has torn the ACL and lateral meniscus in his right knee, and might miss the start of the 2013 season.

The school says the junior could be out 6-to-9 months, but did not say how the injury occurred.

Exum was Second Team All ACC this past season, and led the Hokies with five interceptions.

He was second in the nation with 21 passes defended in 2012.

Exum considered entering the NFL Draft, but decided to return to school for his senior year.

The Hokies start their season August 31st against defending national champion Alabama.
