Albemarle County police say a driver following too closely behind a church van caused an accident that injured 11 people.
This happened just before 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the northbound lanes of Route 29 at Polo Grounds Road.
Police say an SUV slammed into the back of the van from a Leesburg church carrying 11 people.
Ambulances took five adults and one infant to the UVA Medical Center. All of their injuries are described as minor. Five other people in the van were treated on the scene.
The SUV driver from Charlottesville was not injured and is now charged with following too closely.
