A new experimental film exhibit opened at the Jefferson School City Center Friday.
Jefferson Pinder's piece "Civic Meditations" is art in the form of video sequences. The potentially controversial piece is supposed to make viewers think about how their personal histories define them, and how they exist in the world.
Experts say the film is best viewed in a meditation mindset.
"Thinking about the way in which we exist in this world, the way our personal histories define who we are and the way that we then project those on the larger environment and the way that people interact with each other," said Andrea Douglas, executive director of the Jefferson School African American Heritage Center.
Three of Pinder's video pieces will go on display between now and March 24.
