Vice President Biden spent most of Friday afternoon at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, at a roundtable discussion on gun control.
Administration officials also took part in the discussion, including Janet Napolitano, secretary of homeland security, Kathleen Sebelius, secretary of health and human services and Jim Cole, deputy U.S. attorney general.
State lawmakers have been debating a bill to require that private sellers conduct criminal background checks at gun shows.
