Florida State has held a 7-game winning streak against the 'Hoos - but today the Virginia men's basketball team snapped their streak as they stomped the Seminoles 56-36.
Head Coach Tony Bennett said, "We shot the ball so well. That energized us defensively and they were flying around but they had some soundness for the most part and I just thought we didn't give Florida State a lot of easy looks."
Joe Harris led UVA's offense with 17 points, 4 steals and 4 rebounds.
His teammate, Akil Mitchell, scored 13 points and grabbed 5 boards.
In the 21 minutes Justin Anderson was on the floor he put in 8 points, 3 blocks and had 3 rebounds.
Anderson said, "Normally you want to start inside out and establish your presence from the inside but we got so hot so early that it stretched the defense out a lot and they had a couple shooters they had to close out on and that opened up easy shots for Nolte, and Akil and they all got good looks."
The 'Hoos had a great night beyond the arc too - they shot 48.9%.
The Cavaliers have a few days off before taking on their conference rival Virginia Tech at Cassell Coliseum Thursday, January 24, 2012.
