Staunton School Places in ‘Made by Milk’ Contest

Posted: Updated:

Some creative, industrious kids in Staunton have earned a $1,500 prize for their school.

For the national "Made by Milk" contest, third-graders at Bessie Weller Elementary School built an Australian gum tree entirely from milk cartons. They used 250 of the containers to create the habitat for the animals that live there.

This week the school learned it won first place among elementary schools. The money will help it build a courtyard for outdoor learning space.
