‘Create Charlottesville’ Aims to Improve Art Community
One group is trying to showcase Charlottesville's abundance of art and culture.
Thursday the "Create Charlottesville" steering committee met to discuss opportunities for more art and music in the city. It wants to improve art education, combine the University of Virginia art community with the downtown Charlottesville art community and diversify the city as a whole.
"More than 50 arts organizations have signed on to endorse this effort so it really is a collaborative initiative that, nothing like this has ever been done in the community so we are very excited to begin," said Maggie Guggenheimer, consultant for research and planning for the Piedmont Council for the Arts.
The steering committee is reaching out to members of the community for ideas.
