The city of Staunton has a one-of-a-kind venue for Shakespeare plays that will soon get some national exposure.
The American Shakespeare Center (ASC) has inked a deal with public television station WVPT.
Grant money will allow the station to produce a new documentary about the nonprofit theater. The ASC will also be featured in "Shakespeare Uncovered," a six-part series that runs nationwide.
"We exist to show how great Shakespeare is, how much fun he is, and PBS and PBS's audience is a great match for Shakespeare lovers," said Jim Warren, American Shakespeare Center cofounder.
A premiere party for "Shakespeare Uncovered" will take place Monday at the Blackfriars Playhouse and the Visulite Theater, both in downtown Staunton.
