Cavaliers Feel Confident As They Head To UNC

Posted: Updated:

The Virginia Women's basketball team improved to 3-2 in the Atlantic Coast Conference as they rallied to take out NC State, 78-59 Sunday, January 13.

Now the Wahoos are in the thick of conference play but feeling upbeat as they prepare to play North Carolina Thursday.

Kelsey Wolfe said, "I think it gives a lot of us confidence just having four of the five starters in double figures."

Telia McCall added, "We just focus on giving it all we've got at that moment."

Head Coach Joanne Boyle said, "It's all about the tempo of the game and I think we're really learning the pace and the tempo when we can run and when we can't and stuff and I think that's our team maturing."

The 'Hoos say sticking to the game plan and continuing to trust one another will help them get the "W" Thursday in Chapel Hill.

Wolfe explained, "We're buying into the system and trusting coaches. Trusting each other and that's just really helping us on the court."

Boyle said, "We're going to be tested on their floor. I think we're going to be ready for it. We had two good games against them last year. I like how we're playing entering into that game."

UNC is 5-0 in ACC play thus far.

Meanwhile, UVA is ready to show the Tar Heels what they've got.

Boyle said, "It's really the kids.  They are delivering it so I know they'll be ready on Thursday."

Tip off is at 2 p.m. Sunday at John Paul Jones Arena.
