A Staunton man has died after an afternoon crash in the city.
It happened shortly after 3 p.m. Tuesday on Statler Boulevard, near the intersection with Richmond Road.
Staunton police say 64-year-old James F. McCrea was thrown from his Buick station wagon after it ran off the road, went up an embankment and flipped over. McCrea was rushed to Augusta Health but died from his injuries.
Investigators say the road was wet but not icy.

At 3:15 pm the Staunton Police Department responded to Statler Blvd, between Greenville Ave and Richmond Rd for a single vehicle accident. Based on the preliminary investigation, the driver of the vehicle, which was traveling north on Statler Blvd lost control causing the vehicle to overturn. The driver who was not wearing his seatbelt was ejected. There were no other occupants in the vehicle.
James F. McCrea, 64, of Staunton was pronounced dead at Augusta Health.
