Legislature Rejects Automatic Restoration of Rights to Non-Violent Felons

In Richmond Monday morning a House of Delegates subcommittee voted down legislation to automatically restore the voting right of non-violent felons in Virginia.

The vote comes in spite of the support of Governor McDonnell and Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli. The governor announced his support for the idea during his State of the Commonwealth Address last week.  

Similar legislation is still up for consideration in the state Senate.
