McAuliffe Statement on Ken Cuccinelli's Suggestion That People Should Go to Jail to Protest Access to Birth Control:
Businessman Terry McAuliffe released the following statement in response to Ken Cuccinelli's divisive suggestion that people should go to jail to protest women's access to birth control:
"Ken Cuccinelli's divisive comments are far outside the mainstream and don't reflect the priorities of Virginians I hear from every day. Our next Governor needs to focus on mainstream ideas for economic growth instead of spending their time on a divisive ideological agenda to restrict women's health care.
When I talk to fellow business leaders, they tell me that comments and policies like these make it harder for Virginia to attract new companies. If we want Virginia to be the best state for business, we need leaders committed to that goal instead of politicians pursuing their own divisive ideological agenda.
As part of that goal, today I am meeting with and listening to innovative entrepreneurs in Norfolk to gather their ideas on strengthening Virginia's economy for the future."
