A Charlottesville faith leader stood before lawmakers in Richmond Friday for a special distinction. Rabbi Daniel Alexander of Congregation Beth Israel in Charlottesville led the House of Delegates in its opening prayer Friday morning.
During his introduction, Delegate David Toscano shared a few words about his friend with his House colleagues.
"Rabbi Alexander has been in Charlottesville I think over 25 years, and has been a real leader in the community in speaking to social justice issues around Charlottesville and Albemarle," said Toscano. "He's very well respected in the community."
Rabbi Alexander, who was joined by his wife in the chamber gallery, received a warm reception from House members.
