Proceeds from restaurant week will benefit the Virginia Institute of Autism (VIA). It will go toward building a new playground at the school. The playground in use now is a mix of equipment that's been donated, but the school will now be able to build one that is specifically designed for children with special needs.
"A special needs playground will allow for kids to have better social interactions. There will be unique opportunities for them to swing and to slide and to interact with each other, so with us we really see it as an extension of the classroom," said executive director of VIA Ethan Long.
Restaurant week takes place January 28 through February 3. Tickets start at $16, with $1 from each ticket going to the VIA.
