A special graduation was held in Fluvanna County Tuesday night.
Participants of the county's first Citizens Law Enforcement Academy celebrated the completion of their program. The 20-week course gave citizens a better understanding of the role of law enforcement.
"We wanted to educate and empower our citizens better so they have a better understanding that what they see on CSI and Law and Order is not always the practical, true, reality side of what law enforcement is about, and how it really is applied in their localities," said Fluvanna County Sheriff Ryant Washington.
He says they hope to offer another course next fall.
