CATEC Hosts Educators From Charlottesville's French Sister City
Educators from Charlottesville's French sister city are visiting central Virginia Tuesday.
The eight teachers from a construction and auto mechanic school near Besancon are spending the week at the Charlottesville Albemarle Technical Education Center (CATEC). They're exchanging ideas with CATEC teachers, and taking part in classes with students.
"The teachers who have come here have become an integrated part of the instruction that's going on in the classroom. It's a great opportunity for us to learn from them as much as for them to learn from us," said CATEC Director Adam Hastings.
"The relationship with the students is different. They get to know them more easily than when you have bigger groups," said Corinne Pagnoz, a vocational school teacher in France.
The two schools hope to begin a partnership to share classroom ideas and set up a student exchange program in the future. The delegation heads back to France Friday.
