Boil Water Notice Follows Two Water Main Breaks in Fluvanna

Posted: Updated:

A precautionary boil water notice is in effect in part of Fluvanna County's Lake Monticello.

About 40 people are urged to boil their water before drinking it following two water main breaks Monday. Aqua Virginia says the two breaks happened just after 5:00 p.m. Monday along Drew Court and Barrett Street. People living in those areas were without water or experienced low pressure over night.

All customers do have water service. Both main breaks have since been repaired. Crews were still flushing the system Tuesday.

The boil water notices have been hand-delivered to the affected homes. Aqua Virginia will hand-deliver another set of notices once they receive word the water is safe. Those test results are expected back by the end of business Wednesday.
