Medical Imaging Resources, Inc., the industry leading provider of fixed and mobile medical imaging solutions, has provided a temporary mobile MRI lab to the NYU Langone Medical Center after sustaining severe water damage from Hurricane Sandy.

(PRWEB) January 07, 2013

Medical Imaging Resources, Inc., the industry leading provider of fixed and mobile medical imaging solutions, has provided a temporary mobile MRI lab to the NYU Langone Medical Center after sustaining severe water damage from Hurricane Sandy.

The NYU Langone Medical Center was one of several New York City hospitals to suffer severe damage as a result of Hurricane Sandy in late October of 2012. Floodwaters inundated the hospital’s basement, destroying all three of the hospital’s MRI scanning systems. The hospital was in desperate need of an advanced MRI lab to accommodate the needs of their patients during the holiday season and needed a solution before December 20th to comply with state health inspection deadlines.

Medical Imaging Resources had the ideal solution for the NYU Langone Medical Center. However, the proposed mobile MRI lab was currently under lease by Chelsea Community Hospital in Michigan. After Medical Imaging Resources CEO John Vartanian approached Chelsea Community Hospital and explained the situation, Executive Vice President of Patient Care Services, Kathy Brubaker, was extremely receptive and willing to help.

The Siemens Avanto 1.5-Tesla mobile MRI lab made the 630 mile journey from Medical Imaging Resources’ headquarters in Ann Arbor, Michigan to Mid-Town Manhattan on December 13th of 2012 to accommodate the deadline. Upon arrival, the 8 foot wide, 50 foot long mobile MRI lab was guided through two large double glass doors that measured only 9 feet wide and was then positioned within the hospital’s courtyard, where it will remain until a permanent MRI lab can be secured. A temporary shelter is being constructed for those patients awaiting MRI services.

The temporary mobile MRI lab will provide the NYU Langone Medical Center and their patient’s access to medical imaging services until the damaged MRI systems can be replaced.

“It’s a wonderful feeling knowing that we were able to help the NYU Langone Medical Center and their patients after such a catastrophic event like Hurricane Sandy”, said John Vartanian, CEO of Medical Imaging Resources. “I am extremely proud of everyone in our mobile leasing division. What could have been a logistical nightmare was incredibly seamless. They really did an amazing job of executing and facilitating everything down to the smallest detail.”
