The Augusta County Sheriff's deputy injured in a crash on Eastside Highway late Friday night remains in the hospital Sunday.
The University of Virginia Medical Center said Deputy Joe Sholes's condition is improving.
The sheriff's office says Sholes was responding to a reported fight when he crashed his county cruiser.
Sholes had to be flown to UVA because of the extent of his injuries.

This happened on Eastside Highway around 11 p.m. Friday.
The sheriff's department says Deputy Joe Sholes was on his way to a call about a fight when he lost control of his county cruiser.
Sholes was flown from the scene to the University of Virginia Medical Center with serious injuries.
He is in stable condition. State police are investigating.
