JABA Food Drive Helps Feed Senior Citizens After the Holidays
Jefferson Area Board for Aging (JABA) is asking for your help in feeding a group of hungry seniors. It's their annual Soup for Seniors food drive.
Organizers say many people forget about those in need after the holidays - but hunger doesn't go away just because all the holiday food drives do.
Winter can make getting to the grocery store especially difficult for seniors, and the program helps bring food to their front door.
"Older adults are kind of the hidden group of people that sometimes are easy to forget, and we have folks who live alone and out in outlining areas and they don't have anything in their pantries," said JABA Volunteer Service Coordinator Robbi Keys.
JABA is asking the public to bring donations to their Charlottesville office. A number of area independent living homes are also collecting donations. The full list follows:
