Nicole Lynn Stauffer, 37, of Augusta County, has been arrested and charged with two counts of felony assault.

This comes after Augusta County Sheriff's deputies say at least three people were injured Monday night during a fight at the Briarwood Apartment complex in Fishersville.

Three people were taken to the hospital, two of them with stab wounds.  A 47-year-old male is being treated for a stab wound to the belly, and a 20-year-old female for a wound to the side. Both were transferred from Augusta Health to the University of Virginia Medical Center.

The third person taken to the hospital was 37-year-old Stauffer, with minor injuries. Deputies said she was the alleged stabber and when she was released from Augusta Health she would be charged with two counts of malicious wounding.

According to the Augusta County Sheriff's Office, disputes earlier in the day boiled over into the fight at Briarwood Apartments in building 25.   The fight happened in a stairwell, and involved relatives and neighbors.

Officers say seven people were involved in the melee and all knew each other. During the fight, a woman came out of an apartment and used pepper spray to help break it up.

In addition to Stauffer, other people are likely to face charges. Each one who was treated at the hospital were in stable condition at last check.
