Tennis Coming to Crozet Park

Posted: Updated: Dec 31, 2012 05:55 PM EST

New tennis courts are coming to Crozet Park this year but only if the park can raise the last few thousand dollars it needs to reach its funding goal.

QuickStart Tennis of Central Virginia built courts for kids 8 and under at Crozet Park this summer. The group has raised $80,000 toward two full-size tennis courts. Now they need $28,000 to complete the Crozet tennis pathway.

QuickStart Tennis founder Lynda Harrill said, "In these economic times basic needs get most of the attention and I totally understand that. But beyond that, we have to look at kids and other people in the community who need to be active. And this is just a wonderful, fun way to get out here and be active."

The park works with the Piedmont YMCA to offer scholarships for lessons and equipment rentals, so anyone can play.
