The UVA men's basketball team held an opponent under 40 points for the third time this season, as the Cavaliers beat Wofford 74-39 Sunday at John Paul Jones Arena.
Freshman Mike Tobey scored a game-high and career-high 19 points on 9-of-10 shooting from the field, while also grabbing a career high six rebounds.
Tobey said, "As good as that felt, it felt way better to get that 'W.' I guess I got into a rhythm and was just feeling it. It feels good just knowing that the coaching staff and the players have confidence in me. It's great to have them all have my back."
Joe Harris and Akil Mitchell each added 15 points for Virginia (10-3).
Mitchell says, "Wofford is a really good team. They beat Xavier, and they run some good offense. I feel like we put together a full 40 minutes. You kind of see our potential and what we can do."
Mitchell tied a career high with 4 steals against Wofford.
The Cavaliers held the Terriers to just 17 points in the first half, which marks the 6th time this year they've held an opponent under 20 points in a half.
Harris said, "For us to play like we did defensively, and then get things rolling offensively, is really good for us, especially going into conference play."
The 'Hoos will play their first ACC game of the season next Sunday, as UVA hosts North Carolina at 8pm.
