Not only was Friday Woodrow Wilson's birthday, but the date also marks exactly 100 years since he visited Staunton as President-elect.
The Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library and Museum commemorated the occasion with an open house. Hundreds toured the building that is also Wilson's birthplace.
Wilson was born in Staunton and visited for the last time to celebrate his 56th birthday.
"We take a lot of pride in being Wilson's birthplace. He's only one of eight presidents to have a presidential library in the state of Virginia also. He's our most famous native son," said Jody Grogan, an interpreter at the library and museum.
The museum is currently showcasing technology of the day. In February it will have a display of the impressionist paintings from Wilson's first wife.
