A man who walked into northern Virginia's Sandy Hook Elementary School with a 2-by-4 with the words "High Powered Rifle" days after a gunman killed 26 at a Connecticut school with the same name appeared in Shenandoah County General District Court Friday.
The case against 33-year-old Christopher Johnson of Strasburg was continued.
Johnson was arrested December 19. Johnson told police at the time of his arrest that he was attempting to deliver a message about school safety. This came just days after the shooting at the Connecticut school with the same name.
Johnson faces one count of disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor.
Commonwealth's Attorney Amanda Wiseley has ordered a mental health evaluation of Johnson.
