HPD Obtains Warrants for Shooter December 26, 2012
The Harrisonburg Police Department has obtained arrest warrants for the suspect in the shooting death of Benjamin Graessle. The suspect has been identified as Dallas Chaplin, 19, of Staunton.
The outstanding warrants are for first degree murder (18.2-32, a felony in Virginia) and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony (18.2-53.1, a felony in Virginia). The Harrisonburg Police Department is actively seeking help from the community in locating Chaplin.
"Since December 23, 2012, the Harrisonburg Police Department has been utilizing numerous resources to include state, local, and federal agencies in an effort to locate Dallas Chaplin. We will continue to use all resources available to ensure Chaplin is arrested and brought to justice for this crime," says Lt. Chris Rush, Division Commander, Criminal Investigations, Harrisonburg Police Department.
In addition, the Harrisonburg Police Department has arrested Givi Dudunia, 19, of Staunton. Dudunia was charged with Assault and Battery (18.2-57, a misdemeanor in Virginia) Dudunia is charged with an assault that took place on December 23, 2012 at 895 Port Road before the shooting death of Graessle.
